Massages By Susan

 Modalities Offered

Swedish Massage

Great for a first time client. This technique is a gentle, relaxing touch which helps improve blood circulation and helps move the lymph fluid through the body more efficiently. Gauranteed to leave you feeling completely relaxed and ready for a nap!

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a firmer touch than Swedish, with its focus being to release knots and tension in the muscle fibers, tendons, ligaments, and surrounding fascia. It is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Recipient should drink plenty of water before and after this service, to ensure that the toxins released are flushed out of the system.

Chair Massage

Chair massage is an on-site service done usually in an office setting. It is a seated, fully clothed back massage, usually including rocking, kneading, stretching, and rolfing motions to help release any pent up tension along the spine. Great for those in need of a quick pick-me-up without taking up a lot of time. Invigorating, and well needed at the office!

Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy can be added to any modality of massage you are receiving, or can be a service all its own! The purpose of this treatment is to use heat to relax certain areas and muscles in the body, allowing for deeper penetration during the massage. For deep tissue work, heat is very beneficial, so that the therapist can achieve better results, by being able to work deeper into the muscle tissue.

Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic Drainage Therapy is a very gentle, flowing touch. It aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas, and moving it to one of three drainage points in the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. Lympth Drainage can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy Massage is a massage designed specifically for the expecting mother. This massage can be done one of two ways, either performed side lined, or in the traditional position of face down with the assistance of a full body pillow system. Each pregnancy is different for all women, and it is the goal of this service to help release joint and ligament pressure, due to extra weight and how it is being carried. With an experienced therapist, one can also have labor induced by hitting certain target areas on the body during the early stages of labor. Please speak to your chosen therapist for further details.

Thai Massage

Thai massage is not your traditional massage. This particular service is dry, and done fully clothed. It is recommended that you are completely comfortable and trust your chosen therapist. This technique is dedicated to increasing your flexibility, and to stretch out every muscle and fiber in your body. Ideal clientele for this service are those who are familiar with Yoga and practice it regularly, or have a regular exercise regimen.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a technique that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points. This process can be quite painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative. It is recommended that you drink plenty of water after this treatment to help release the toxins.

Reflexology

Reflexology is a technique that focuses on applying pressure to the specific nerve zones in your feet, and aims to harmonize your entire body. This technique is done mostly on the feet, but it has also been known to be worked through the hands and the ears. It is a point therapy, hitting key spots of the feet, hands, and ears that correspond to different organs in the body, resulting in better efficiency with specific organs, and with overall body function.

Active Isolated Stretching

Stretching is a key component to any massage service you receive. It not only helps to keep your body limber and flexible, but it helps relieve muscle spasms, sprains of ligaments, strains of tendons, and helps prevent joints from locking up.

Cupping

Chinese Cupping is an ancient Chinese medicine where glass suction cups with release valves on top of them are placed on different points of the body to help increase blood circulation, or to isolate an area to release tension and open the 'Chi Channels' of the body for optimal function. This technique uses the same points as acupuncture and other point therapies. It is a 'vacumm therapy' that has been proven to be very effective over the years. Contrary to popular belief, this modality is not painful. But, due to the isolation of one area, the recipient is expected to bruise, and they usually last anywhere between 1 - 1 1/2 weeks after treatment. Please keep this in mind before having a session.
